Vishakha Flexible packaging one of India’s most respected names in high-barrier flexible packaging, has taken a significant step forward in its long-standing journey of excellence by investing in two cutting-edge machines from Windmöller & Hölscher, Germany.
The expansion, which includes a new state-of-the-art facility, marks a milestone in the partnership between the two companies and reaffirms their shared commitment to delivering world-class packaging solutions.

For the production facility in Ahmedabad, work is underway to install a FILMEX II line for Cast Barrier Nylon /EVOH films, featuring 11 layers and equipped with 9+1 extruders. With a working width of 2.45 meters, this addition strengthens Vishakha’s ability to cater to a diverse range of applications – from food and pharmaceuticals to industrial packaging. This will be the first 11-layer cast line in India, setting new benchmarks in barrier film innovation.
Under the visionary leadership of Jigish Doshi, Chairman and Managing Director, Vishakha group continues to drive technological advancement and innovation in flexible packaging. His strategic foresight and commitment to excellence have been instrumental in positioning Vishakha as a global leader in high-barrier films.
Vishakha is one of the largest high-barrier co-extruded flexible film manufacturers in India, with factory premises spread over 99,000 square meters. The company exports flexible packaging materials to North and South America, Europe, Australia, Middle East, Asia, and Africa, consistently meeting the stringent requirements of international markets. Its current plastic films production capacity stands at 48,600 MT per annum, which will increase to around 60,300 MT per annum with the new investments, across three production locations – two in India (West and East) and one in Indonesia within span of one year.
The installation of India’s first 11-layer cast line marks a transformative step, enhancing both export and domestic capabilities by offering specialized next-generation 11-layer cast films for packaging. With this, Vishakha is well-positioned to meet the evolving demands of global customers seeking innovative, reliable, and sustainable packaging solutions for high-performance applications like Food, Non-Food and Medical products.
Meanwhile, in Kolkata, Vishakha has invested in the VAREX II 7-layer blown film line, complete with the FILMATIC II V dual winder and a 2,200 mm working width. This advanced line is designed to produce barrier and PE films with exceptional quality and consistency. For Vishakha, it represents more than just a machine, it is a response to the growing demand in India for reliable, high-performance barrier films that protect products and extend shelf life. As the management at Vishakha believes, “no packaging solution is ever the same and every requirement deserves a unique answer.” The VAREX II enables them to honor this philosophy on a larger scale.
“Our collaboration with W&H has always been about more than technology. It is about trust, shared values, and the pursuit of excellence. With these new additions, we are prepared to serve our customers with solutions that are not only high in performance but also tailored to their unique needs,” says Ankit Doshi from Vishakha Polyfab.
